Eduardo Farate

Qualifications:

MSW (Curtin University)

Profile:

Since first graduating in 1993, I have worked in the social work field and am an accredited member of the Australian Association of Social Workers.  I started my professional career as a social worker at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, Subiaco.  In June 1994 I moved to the Department for Community Development where I worked for 12 years in the areas of child protection, research and evaluation and more recently in policy and planning.  I have worked as a Relationship Counsellor with Relationships Australia since 1996 and am currently working as a counsellor in private practice on a casual basis.  I am also currently working as a Family Consultant for the Family Court Counselling and Consultancy Service in Perth.  I was appointed as a 'Justice of the Peace' for the State of Western Australia on 12 March 1999.  My knowledge and experience on multicultural issues, plus my fluency in four other languages - Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and French, enhance my ability to effectively work with families and individuals from different cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
