I am completing my PhD and looking at the role that mythologies play in response to youth justice issues. My ares of interest include:
- Post structural analysis
- Language as a signifier
- Youth justice
- Children and youth rights
Profile:
I am the Manager of Youth Legal Service, WA. The Service provides a wide range of services to meet the needs of disadvantaged young people in regards to dealing with the law and legal system. My qualifications include a Bachelor of Social Science, Master of Service Administration, and currently completing a PhD with the Discipline of Social Work and Social Policy at UWA, and focusing on how the community forms myths around juvenile offending. Previously I was the Director of the Social Justice Centre at the University of Notre Dame and have had many years experience in the delivery of case management support services to young people. I have recently chaired the Youth Affairs Council of WA and was a member of the joint Commonwealth State Review of Community Legal Centres Advisory Group.
