
Qualifications: BA (Al-Fatech) (Curtin University of Technology), MA in Counselling (Jordan University), PhD (UWA) Research Interests: Mental health, spirituality, religion and mental health, carers of people with mental illness, cross-cultural practice, dementia, torture and trauma survivors, teaching social work PhD thesis, "Perceptions of mental health problems in Islam: a textual and experiential analysis". Teaching Interests: Mental health, cross-cultural issues, counselling, group work, field education. Profile: I have been a social worker since 1983. I have been working as a social work practitioner, researcher and as an educator. The experience obtained internationally in different areas of social work in North Africa, the Middle East and in Australia. I have practiced social work mainly in mental health clinics, hospitals and with carers of people with mental health problems. Other areas of experience are in child development, domestic violence, migration and refugees.
